Submission Information
Why ELRDR?
Submission Guidelines
The Educational Leadership Review of Doctoral Research (ELRDR) welcomes manuscripts based on recently completed doctoral research, including traditional dissertations, action research studies, and doctoral capstone projects.
To be considered for publication, submissions must meet the following requirements:
-
Eligibility: Research must originate from a completed dissertation or other doctoral culminating project within the two years preceding the intended journal issue.
-
Authorship: The lead author must be the individual who completed the doctoral research. Dissertation chairs and committee members are encouraged to participate as co-authors.
-
Manuscript Preparation: Submissions must be developed as scholarly manuscripts rather than excerpts copied directly from dissertations or capstone projects. Manuscripts should synthesize and communicate the research in a style, voice, and tense appropriate for an audience of practicing educational leaders, faculty, and doctoral students.
-
Submission Deadline: Manuscripts submitted by June 1 each year will be considered for publication in the Fall issue.
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements, including those that substantially reproduce dissertation text without appropriate adaptation, will be returned without further consideration.
Manuscript Preparation and Submission Requirements
All manuscripts submitted to the Educational Leadership Review of Doctoral Research (ELRDR) must adhere to the following requirements:
-
Length and Formatting: Manuscripts must not exceed 30 pages, including references. All submissions must be double-spaced, use 12-point Times New Roman font, and follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.).
-
Submission Process: All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the ICPEL FastTrack submission system.
-
Tables and Figures: Tables and figures must be embedded within the manuscript at their intended locations rather than placed at the end of the document with insertion instructions. Tables must be created using Microsoft Word's Insert Table feature rather than tabs or spaces.
-
Abstract: Each manuscript must include an abstract of 50–100 words.
-
Preliminary Requirements: Authors must submit a separate Word document briefly addressing items 1–5 of the Preliminary Requirements outlined above.
Editorial and Peer Review Process
Each submitting author will be assigned an Editorial Advisor who will provide preliminary feedback on manuscript formatting, organization, and style. This initial review is intended to identify and address basic manuscript preparation issues before the submission proceeds to formal peer review.
Once the Editorial Advisor determines that the manuscript is ready for further consideration, it will undergo a double-blind peer-review process involving reviewers, editors, and editorial advisors.
Authors are expected to respond to revision requests and editorial feedback in a timely manner throughout the review and publication process.
